The Raft of the Medusa – Théodore Géricault
£24.00
Théodore Géricault, 1818–1819. Musée du Louvre, Paris.
Based on a real shipwreck of 1816, when around 150 people were left adrift on a makeshift raft and only 15 survived. Géricault interviewed survivors and built a model of the raft. At top right, a man waves at the tiny ship that would rescue them.
