Susanna and the Elders – Artemisia Gentileschi
£24.00
Artemisia Gentileschi, 1610. Schloss Weissenstein, Pommersfelden.
Two elders whisper over the wall as Susanna twists away, her raised hands pushing them back. Painted when Artemisia was about 17, it is her earliest known signed work, and she tells the story through Susanna's fear rather than the men's gaze.
